Stay Informed

Dear Families of King George School,

"With these hands, with these hearts, with these minds, we can do anything." This year's Terry Fox Run was a wonderful reminder of what our school community can accomplish when we work together toward a common goal. Inspired by Terry Fox's determination, courage, and belief that one person can make a difference, our students and staff set out to run a combined 3,000 km. We are proud to share that not only did we meet that goal, but we also exceeded our fundraising target of $2,500, raising $2,926.05 to date. We are incredibly grateful to our families and community members whose generosity made this possible. Please visit our school’s Terry Fox page here for more information.

Thank you as well to the volunteers who came out to support our students and help make the day such a success.

Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

In recognition of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, students and staff will participate in a variety of age-appropriate learning activities over the coming weeks. We encourage all students to wear orange on Tuesday, September 29th as a visible reminder that Every Child Matters.

A reminder that there will be no school on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

There are many community events taking place in Calgary on September 30th. If your family is interested in learning more or participating, additional information is available through the City of Calgary here.

As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our staff are engaged in learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations as we develop our school's Truth and Reconciliation Commitment to Action for the 2026-27 school year. This commitment will help guide our ongoing learning and actions throughout the year as we continue to honour Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. We look forward to sharing our commitment with families in the coming weeks as we continue this important journey together.

School Council Corner

Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who joined us, either in person or online, for our first School Council meeting of the year. We appreciate your time, input, and commitment to our school community. We look forward to sharing updates, celebrating initiatives, and keeping families informed about the work of School Council through this section of our weekly update. We are excited for another great year of collaboration and partnership!
