Dear families of King George School 

Bon retour and Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year! We hope you have had a wonderful summer break, and we look forward to welcoming all of our students to school on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.  Our Kindergarten students will have a staggered entry on Tuesday August 2, 2025. Families of Kindergarten students, please see below for the time your child(ren) will be attending.

Classroom Teacher and First Day of School – September 4, 2025 

Classroom teachers will be sending an introductory email to families on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 1:00 PM. In this email, there will be specific information about the first day of school, including where your child will be meeting their teacher in the morning. 

Kindergarten | Staggered Entry  

Tuesday September 2 is staggered entry days for kindergarten students and regular classes start Wednesday, September 3, 2025. As a reminder to kindergarten parents/guardians, below is the staggered entry schedule:  

Tuesday September 2, 2025 – K AM staggered Entry: 

  • 8:05 AM - 9:20 AM - AM Kindergarten with surnames A-K 
  • 9:35  AM - 10:50 AM - AM students with surnames L to Z   

Tuesday September 2, 2025 – K PM staggered Entry 

  • 11:40 AM – 12:55 PM – PM Kindergarten with surnames A-K 
  • 1:10 PM – 2:25 PM– PM Kindergarten with surnames L-Z  

Soft Entry | Bell at 7:58 AM for Grades 1-5 and Kindergarten AM: 

Soft Entry will begin on Wednesday September 3. The school doors will open at 7:50 AM. All students will enter the school between 7:50 AM-7:58 AM at their designated doors (see teacher introduction email) upon drop-off or once they have exited the bus, and head to their class. A staff member will be at your child’s designated door to greet them. Students will be supervised inside. 

Important to note: The bell will ring at 7:58 AM, at which time the school doors will be closed.  All students arriving after 7:58 AM are asked to enter through the Main Entry doors on 10 ST NW, and make their way to class. It is imperative that attendance, and teaching and learning, begin promptly at 8:00 AM. Having the doors close at 7:58 AM allows the teacher on supervision to begin their attendance and instruction on time.  A student will only be considered late after 8:00 AM and is to check in at the office so that we can ensure their attendance is accounted for.  

Students will not be supervised outside in the morning. Admin team staff will be circulating outside, beginning at 7:50 AM, to support Grades 1-5 students to get safely to their door.

Kindergarten Students must be handed off from parent/guardian to the teacher/school supervisor.  They must never be dropped off to walk to their doors independently.  Kindergarten teaachesr will not release students until they can see the Parent/Guardians who is picking up their Kindergarten student (hand-to-hand).

Dismissal | Bell Times - Monday to Thursday at 2:30 PM for Grades 1-5 and Kindergarten PM

Monday-Thursday at 2:30 PM for Grades 1-5 and Kindergarten PM: We want to remind families that instructional time goes right until the dismissal bell at 2:30 PM. Students will then be changing their shoes and getting ready to go home. Don’t be alarmed if your child isn’t outside the doors right at 2:30 PM, as they may still be getting ready. 

Early Dismissal Fridays | Bell Time 12:00 PM 

We want to remind families that on early dismissal Fridays, the dismissal bell rings at 12:00 PM. Kindergarten will be alternating attendance on Friday mornings. The schedule for Kindergarten Friday attendance is available on our school calendar.  

Family Orientation – September 4, 2025 

Save the date! Our Family Orientation is an opportunity for families to see your child’s classroom, meet your child’s teacher and learn more about the academic, social, and well-being goals for this year. This year our Family Orientation will be on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 4:00 PM- 4:45 PM and from 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM. Please only attend one session per child.  If you have more than two children in the school with three or more different teachers, please call our main office line before Thursday September 4 so that we can make a plan to accommodate you. 

Pancake Breakfast - September 12, 2025 

We’re looking forward to seeing our King George families  on Friday, September 12, 2025, for the annual Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 to 8:45. Supervision for students will begin at 7:50. More details to come next week. A big thanks to our King George School Council for organizing this special event. Our School Council plays an integral role in providing an enriching learning environment for all students, by fundraising to purchasing high quality resources, and organizing special events. Our school community relies on the efforts made by our School Council. All parents are automatic members of the School Council and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you out at our first meeting on September 18 at 6:30 PM. 


We are excited to re-connect with our amazing King George community. Enjoy these last few days of summer break before the commencement of the 2025-2026 school year.
