Dear King George Families,
As the weather continues to change, it is a great reminder that fall is well underway! As we all know, weather can change quickly in Calgary, so we appreciate families helping students come to school dressed for the conditions each day. We also appreciate your support in continuing conversations about caring for and respecting our school trees. Despite recent reminders, we experienced another broken tree limb this week. Our trees are still young, and we hope to see them grow big and strong for years to come so that future generations of King George students can enjoy them as much as our current students do. Whether indoors or outdoors, there is plenty of learning, growth, and fun happening at King George.
Book Fair
Get ready - the Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way! Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers, and every purchase at the fair benefits our school.
The Book Fair will take place on October 29 and 30, 2026:
- October 29 - Book Fair open during the annual Fall Dance
- October 30 - Book Fair open from 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Books ordered during Book Fair week will arrive in time for the holidays! The Learning Commons will also be hosting a draw - every child in the school will be entered. The winner will choose one book to take home and another to add to the library. We love hearing feedback from children about which books they would like to see in the library, and this is a wonderful way for one child to choose a great addition to our collection!

Remembrance Day
As we prepare for our Remembrance Day Assembly on November 10, we would like to extend a special invitation to veterans and current members of the Canadian Armed Forces in our school community. Unfortunately, due to gym capacity, only veterans and current members are able to attend - other family members are not able to be accommodated at this time. If you have a veteran in your family who would like to attend, please email Mme Sarah at sacharlebois@cbe.ab.ca so that we can personally welcome them to our assembly.
Fire Drill Practice
This week, we successfully completed our third fire drill of the school year, well before the arrival of winter weather. With this drill, we have now completed all three required fire drills prior to Winter Break. Our students did an excellent job exiting and re-entering the building calmly, safely, and respectfully. We are proud of the responsibility they have shown and appreciate their efforts in helping to keep our school community safe.
