Dear Families of King George School
This week was filled with celebrations. Thank you to all volunteers who came out to support our Terry Fox run. We also had our first Celebration of Learning assembly. Celebration of Learning assemblies are monthly and provide an opportunity for each class to showcase their learning in progress to our school community. We can no longer fit all of our staff and students into the gym at the same time, due to Fire Code regulations. Therefore, classes sign up for one assembly in either the AM or a PM slot. This has allowed us to invite family members of the students who are showcasing their learning to that particular assembly. Your child’s teacher will send you an invitation to attend their celebration of learning when it is time. It was lovely to see the family members who could join for their child(ren)’s celebration of learning yesterday. It really helps us to continue to strengthen our sense of the whole school community.
This week teachers and students acknowledged Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It was lovely to see our staff and students wearing orange throughout our school yesterday to recognize that Every Child Matters. Chaque Enfant Compte. Please see the CBE News Centre page on Holding Space for Indigenous Education and the many events happening this weekend and on September 30 for our National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Toonies for Terry Total
Our final tally has been recorded, and we raised $1335.10 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you to all families who donated a “Toonie for Terry” and to everyone who participated in the run. We are grateful for our school community and the tremendous spirit of generosity.
