Dear families
It was so wonderful to re-connect with all our returning students and to welcome our new students for another school year. Our students bring our school to life, and it is buzzing with excitement as students get to know their new teachers and spaces. We had our Welcome Back assembly this morning where we introduced our staff and reviewed school expectations. The Student Code of Conduct will be reviewed with our students and staff throughout the school year. Please review the Student Code of Conduct with your children at home: Student Code of Conduct
Student Safety
Morning entry and afternoon dismissal are busy times at our school! To ensure our school is a safe place for everyone, please make sure to follow the safety measure below:
- Follow the safety patrollers' signs and signals at the 9th street crosswalk when they begin their duties later this month.
- Grades 1-5 only use the “Kiss and Go” on 9th street to drive up, and park only as long as it takes to let your child out, kiss your child, wish them a good day and drive away (approx. 2-3 minutes). You must not leave your car. When pulling up to the Kiss & Go, please drive slowly and with extra caution and please pull as far up as you can to allow others space.
- If you wish to wait in the school grounds with your child prior to school starting, or if you are a Kindergarten parent who must walk their child to the doors, you must park in the surrounding communities. We appreciate your cooperation!
- The staff parking lots are for staff only. It is never permitted to use the staff parking lots for drop-off or pick-up. This is unsafe. Please use the designated kiss and go or surrounding street parking. There is a designated Handicap Parking Spot in our 20th ave parking lot for those who have accessibility needs only.
- Walk with your child on the sidewalks and not through the parking lots.
Pancake Breakfast (September 6 7:30AM – 9:00AM)
We are looking forward to our Pancake Breakfast next Friday! We want to let parents know that we will be taking attendance at 7:58 AM. Your child must make their way to their classroom teacher at 7:58 AM, or they will be marked late/absent. We will send out your child’s class meeting spot next week.
The King George School Council is looking for volunteers to help run the pancake breakfast. If you are able to volunteer, please sign up here!
Open House (September 12, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM)
You are invited to meet your child’s teacher in person on September 12 at 6:00 PM OR 6:45 PM to learn more about the academic, social, and well-being goals for this year. You will also have a chance to learn about your child’s classroom routines and expectations. Each session will run for approximately 30 minutes, in your child's classroom. Mme Claire (Physical Education), Mme Rosie (Music) and Mme Shannah (Resource), will be in the gym to answer questions as well.
To sign up for a time slot, you will use the Conference Booking through MyCBE. Bookings will open Thursday, September 5th at 4:00 PM. You are invited to come to the school for either the 6:00 PM session OR the 6:45 PM.
We encourage only parents to come to the open house on Thursday as teachers will be covering a lot of information in a short amount of time. There will not be any childcare on site for this event.
