Dear families
We are thankful to be part of such a vibrant, rich, and supportive school community. Thank you to our families for all you do in support of your child(ren)’s learning journey. We are grateful. We wish you all a wonderful long weekend and a happy Thanksgiving for all who are celebrating.
School Council AGM Meeting – October 15
This month our School Council is meeting on Tuesday October 15 at 7:00 PM in our Learning Commons. The AGM is an important meeting, as the council looks to fill the positions through a vote. As a reminder, as a parent, you are automatically a member of School Council. We will send out a MS Teams link on Tuesday for those who wish to attend virtually.
Coffee & Conversation – October 18
Bring your coffee and come for a chat! Mme Allison and Mme Renee are hosting their monthly coffee and conversation for parent/guardians on Friday October 18 from 8:00 AM to 8:40 AM in the Staff Room. This is a chance to connect with the school administration, ask questions, offer feedback and come together as a community. Please check in at the office before making your way to the staff room.
Student Learning Conferences – October 24 & 25
We’re looking forward to meeting you in person at the Student Learning Conferences on Thursday October 24 (3:15 pm – 7:30 pm) and Friday October 25 (8:00 am – 12:00 pm). These meetings are an opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher about your child’s learning. You will be able to book a conference with your child’s teacher using the MyCBE portal. Bookings will start at 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 17.
Kindergarten parents will have additional conference times on October 24 from 8:00 am – 10:45 am and from 11:45 am – 2:30 pm. Please note that there is no school for Kindergarten students on October 24.

10th Street Reminder
We want to remind families that 10th street is not an unloading zone. We discourage families from dropping off their children in front of our school doors. Instead, we ask that you park and walk.
Volunteering at KGS
Thank you to all of the parents that are able to volunteer throughout the year! If you are interested in volunteering, your first step is to get a volunteer security clearance. You can visit the CBE website, or call Mme Shelley in the main office, for more information.
Supervision Outside of School Hours
We are noticing an increase in incidents being reported to the school that happen after school hours. We want to remind families that if they choose to remain on school grounds after the dismissal bell, there is no supervision offered by the school. We ask you to be active in your supervision to ensure your child’s safety. Thank you for your support with this.
Grade 4 & 5 OurSCHOOL Student Survey
Our Grade 4 & 5 students have been participating in an online school perception survey for students called the OurSCHOOL Student Survey. This anonymous survey is completely voluntary for all CBE students. CBE’s Education Plan prioritizes student voice and well-being in our decision-making processes. Responses from this survey are used at the system and school level to recognize and improve what is necessary for students to feel safe, welcome, and cared for when at school.
