Nov. 13-17 Update | Remembrance Day, Metis Week, Conferences, Transportation Photo Shoot,
This week, our students had the opportunity to engage in learning about Indigenous Veterans Day (Nov.8) and about Remembrance Day. We acknowledged both of these important days, and all veterans, during an assembly on November 8. Some of the assembly highlights were the grade five students presenting a song, the whole school Blackfoot Song and the Kindergarten poppy artwork displayed.
We also want to thank families that have started donating items to the Veterans Food Bank. We will be continuing to collect donations until November 30. As a reminder, here is the list of urgently needed items for you to consider if you are able to donate. Only send non-perishable items to school. Thank you!

City of Calgary – Active Transportation Photo Shoot
The City of Calgary has a plan to make it easier to use active transportation year-round, so more people have access to options that are affordable, healthy and sustainable. A photoshoot is scheduled for November 15, leaving from King George (9 Street and 21 Ave NW) to increase the number of pictures of families who travel by foot, bike, cargo bike, skateboard and scooter in our image library. These pictures are invaluable in engagement as they help explain the kinds of streets that feel safe to people of all ages and abilities as new projects are designed in our city. Parents must join their children for this activity and will have to sign a waiver. Please consider joining part or all of this photoshoot if you are able:
- 2:45 leave King George
- Photo stop 1: 9 Street NW near 22 Av
- Slow group will ride through Confederation Park
- 3:15 - photo stop 2: 24 Avenue NW near 15 St NW
- 3:45 – slow ride back to King George school
- Hot chocolate will be served!
If you have any questions, please reach out to jen.malzer@calgary.ca.
