With the beautiful weather this week, students have been enjoying more opportunities for outdoor learning, such as observing seasonal changes, using the natural environment to inspire their writing while, and building their French vocabulary and oral language skills.
We are also proud of our Grade 4 and 5 students who chose to participate in Mount Royal University’s 14th annual Math Contest. Their commitment to attending Math Club during lunch and their willingness to take on this challenge is commendable—bravo!

Head Lice
We have had a few reported cases of head lice in the school recently. We ask that you please check your child’s hair regularly and treat promptly if needed.
Head lice are common among school-aged children. They do not spread disease and are not related to cleanliness.
If your child does have head lice, please inform the school. We will notify families in the affected classroom while maintaining your child’s confidentiality.
You can check for head lice at home. Use a fine-toothed comb. Part small sections of hair in a place with good light. Using a magnifying glass can help. You can also check with a doctor, who will ask about symptoms and check the scalp and hair for lice and nits, Opens dialog.

Toys/Personal Items from Home
We are finding that students are bringing many toys and personal items from home. These include sport balls, toy ducks, stuffies and action figures, etc. Please do not send your child to school with these items as they become a distraction, sometimes can be the cause of conflict, and may get lost or go missing. As a reminder, our priority is on student learning and when toys and personal items become the focus for conversation, it takes away from the support we provide for learning. Please note that the school is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
