Dear Families of King George School,

Welcome to March! The month of March is the annual Mois de la francophonie albertaine (Alberta Francophonie Month). It’s a month to celebrate and recognize French language in our province. For more information, you can visit Francophone heritage in Alberta.

Think Fast – March 4 & 5

We will be welcoming Mat Mailand from Think Fast Comedy to kick off le Mois de la Francophonie. He will be offering a 45-minute workshop with our division 2 students, focusing on French speaking through drama and comedy. We will be welcoming Think Fast Comedy back for a whole school residency in April. Stay tuned!

CBE Student Survey – March 8

Students in Grade 5 will be completing the CBE Student Survey on March 8. This survey is an opportunity for students to report on themselves, their own abilities and their accomplishments and to take pride in what they have achieved. The results are used in school and district reports to demonstrate that students are able to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies they are acquiring across all academic disciplines and that students are demonstrating Citizenship, Personal Development and Character in and through learning. If you have any questions, please contact Renée Samson (rmsamson@cbe.ab.ca).

Packing Extra Snacks

We are noticing that there are many students asking for additional snacks at school. Please ensure that you pack enough food and snacks for your child. They may be going through a growth spurt and could use a little extra. If you are experiencing any food security challenges, please reach out to by calling the school at 403-777-6210, as we are able to help.

Parking and Walking in School Parking Lot

This is a friendly reminder that the school parking lot is reserved for our staff only.  We have noticed parents/guardians pulling in and out of our staff parking lots for picking up or dropping off. This causes increased traffic pulling in and out, which is not safe for our students or pedestrians.  We also ask that you do not walk your child through our parking lots as this is also a safety hazard.  Thank you for your cooperation.
