KGS Family Update | March 2-6

Learn and Share | School Planning Engagement

We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we’ll be sharing information about school planning and asking you to share your perspectives.

During this engagement, you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Learn About
    • School planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget and school fees
    • How the school development plan sets the overall focus and direction for a school to improve student learning outcomes
    • How the school budget provides funding to implement our school development plan
    • School fees and why they are necessary
  2.  Participate
    • Participate in our virtual special parent/guardian meeting on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 PM to learn more about school planning. There will be an opportunity to provide feedback at this meeting.

Watch this short video to learn about the planning work schools do to improve and support student learning.

We value your feedback and hope you can attend.

Folklofolie

Thursday, March 5, students will have the opportunity to experience traditional folk French and Quebecois music and dancing to kick off le mois de la francophonie!

A message from our School Nurse | Vaccines

March 17 – Gr. 1 vaccines

To the Parents and/or Guardians of the Gr 1, 2, 3 & 4 student(s) who attend King George School

This is to inform you that the immunization team from Primary Care Alberta (AHS) will be at the school on March 17th, 2026 for a vaccination program.

We will be doing immunizations for some Gr 1students and other grades who are not up to date with preschool immunizations and those who we have outstanding & signed consent forms for from earlier this year and/or previous years.

Consent forms for gr 1 students went out from the school early Jan 2026 & some duplicates have been sent out recently after conversation with parents whom we have followed up with. If you still have the consent forms at home, please return them to the school as soon as able.

We also recommend the kiddos eat breakfast the day of the program and wear a short sleeve shirt to help ensure a successful and positive vaccine experience.

Needle anxiety is extremely common, please visit tips on the Commitment to Comfort | Alberta Health Services website.

If there are questions or concerns, please contact me directly at 403-944-7514.
