Dear families

It was lovely to see students and staff come to school wearing outfits that reflect who they are and ready to share all about it! We were so proud of our grade 5 students who did a stellar job sharing their research projects at the Grade 5 Science Fair on Thursday.  They were able to articulate their hypothesis, variables, observations, and results with fluency in French!  Bravo les élèves de 5e! We were also happy that the rain helped to clear the smoke. We tried to get out as much as possible this week and kept a close eye on the Air Quality Health Index.  We will continue to do so next week.

National Indigenous People’s Day – June 20

On Friday, June 20, our staff and students will be recognizing National Indigenous People’s Day, which takes place on June 21. We will be gathering as a school to acknowledge the land, to reflect on the learning we engaged in for our TRC Call to Action this year. We will have an outdoor assembly, followed by a whole school walk to Confederation Park, weather permitting.

Walk to Confederation Park

We invite all students to wear orange to commemorate on June 20 for National Indigenous People’s Day.

AMA Kiss and Go Pilot Program

We are excited to pilot a new program with AMA. You may have seen students supporting the Kiss and Go area this week. They are there to promote safety of our students by helping to usher students from vehicles to the school grounds and to help the flow of traffic through the Kiss and Go area. They are also able to escort students to their class if needed. We are hoping that this pilot becomes a project that we continue in the fall. – stay tuned!

Lost & Found

We have many items in our Lost and Found. If your child is missing an item or piece of clothing, please send a note with them to school so they can check with their lunchroom supervisor. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity at the end of the school year.

Whole School Fun Day - June 25

On June 25, we will have a Fun Day (8:45 AM – 10:45 AM) for students in grades 1-5 to celebrate our year end. All students will participate in many activities around the school and enjoy some community building time with classmates and staff. Students will also be given a popsicle as a fun treat.  If you would like to volunteer for this activity, please contact your child’s teacher!

Our Kindergarten students will be celebrating their year-end with an outing to Confederation Park. If your child is in Kindergarten, your child’s classroom teacher has shared additional information.

Last Day of Classes Early Dismissal– June 26

We want to remind all families that the last day of classes is Thursday, June 26. We will be following an early dismissal schedule for all students (8:00 AM – 12:10 PM), and there will be no school for AM Kindergarten that day (PM Kindergarten attends morning classes). Yellow school buses will run on the Friday schedule on this day.

Data Access for Students Leaving CBE

Students leaving CBE will lose access to CBE Google Workspace accounts, including any data, files, emails and files shared with others. Before June 30, students must save any files they wish to retain in personal storage locations.  Students leaving the CBE can learn how to save their files by following these instructions.

Transition Planning

We want to remind you that if your child will not be attending King George School in September, you must inform the office as soon as possible. This is important information as we are planning for our return to school in September.
