Jan. 8-12, 2024 | Welcome Back & Happy New Year, Grade 1 Assessments, Report Cards
Dear families
Welcome back to school and Happy New Year to all families! We hope you had a wonderful break and took the time to do the things that bring you joy. We are excited to welcome everyone back at school on Monday, January 8.
Grade 1 Assessments
The Provincial government requires that all students in Grade 1 complete a literacy and numeracy assessment prior to January 26. These assessments are used to see where students are, as a result of the learning loss due to Covid-19. The results will help identify how to plan for appropriate support moving forward. If your child is in Grade 1, they will have started these assessments. For more information, please visit the Alberta Early Years Assessment page.
Report Cards and IPPs Available January 30
Teachers are now finalizing assessment and report cards for the first term. Report cards will be available during the week of January 30 through the MyCBE portal. You will need to log in to view your child’s report card. A student’s report card corresponds to ongoing assessment done by their teachers. Assessing a student’s progress is one of the most important ways teachers support the continued learning of their students. You may have questions about your child’s report card, how your child is being assessed in school, and how to read and interpret the report card. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Students who have Individual Program Plan’s will also receive an update at this time. If your child has an IPP, you will need to review the IPP, sign the signature page, and return the signature page to your child’s teacher.
