Dear families
Welcome to December. Thank you to our families for your generous donations to the Veterans Food Bank. Items will be picked up on Monday.
We have noticed that many students are coming to school without appropriate outdoor clothing. Please ensure that your child comes to school with a hat, a winter coat, snowpants, winter boots, and mittens/gloves, so that they are ready for outdoor recess and outdoor learning. If your family requires support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help. Please contact our main office.
School Improvement Results Report & School Development Plan
The School Improvement Results Report (SIRR) for 2023-2024 and School Development Plan (SDP) for the 2024-2025 school year are now posted on the school website. Our overarching goal for the next three years is that student achievement in French Language Acquisition will improve, while our specific outcome for this year is that student writing in French will improve by making explicit connections to intended learning goals and being actively involved in the assessment process. Also posted on our school website is the Fees Report to Parents for 2023-2024.

Warm Feet for the Street
The Warm Feet for the Street campaign, organized by The Mustard Seed in Calgary, is an initiative aimed at providing essential items, including warm socks, to individuals experiencing homelessness. As winter temperatures drop, the campaign helps ensure that those in need have access to necessary items. Students are invited to fill up some warm winter socks with essential items like personal hygiene (mouth care, deodorant, soap, etc.), facial tissue, gift cards, special notes/messages, etc., and place their socks under our school tree outside the office. Urgently needed items by Mustard Seed can be found here. We do ask that all donated items are new and/or unused. We appreciate your support!
Student Advisory Committee – Grade 4 & 5
We are excited to launch the Student Advisory Committee for students in grades four and five. This committee provides a platform for students to share their ideas, concerns, and suggestions about school life, helping to ensure their voices are heard in decisions that impact their experience. It also fosters leadership and responsibility. Students will have the opportunity to share feedback, offer suggestions, and participate in school activities. Meetings will be held twice a month during lunchtime for those who choose to participate.
Family Home Literacy Support Resources
Over the past few years, we have been shifting our literacy practices to align with the structured literacy approach. You can learn more about how you can support your child with literacy at home here: Home Literacy Support.
Coffee & Conversation
Please join us for our next Coffee & Conversation with the school administration! This is a great opportunity to connect, share ideas, and ask any questions you may have about our school. It will be held in the Staff Room from 8:00-8:40 AM on Friday, December 6. Please check-in at the office first. Don’t forget your coffee!
Spirit Fridays in December
We’re heading into December with fun Spirit Days! Here’s what we have planned:
- December 6 – Twin/Triplet Day: Dress alike with a friend (or a few!) and show off your matching styles.
- December 13 – Backwards/Inside Out Day: Turn your clothes around and show us your creative twist!
- December 20 – Pajama Day: Help us kick-off the winter break by getting cozy and comfy in your favorite pajamas.
We can’t wait to see our students' creative outfits and school spirit! Thanks for helping make these days extra fun!
A Friendly Request About Alley Parking
We are asking for your help with a parking issue. Our school neighbors have reached out to let us know that cars are often parked in front of the alleys, making it difficult for residents to get in and out. Please be mindful not to block the alleys when parking, as this can cause inconvenience for residents of this community who are trying to access their driveways/garages. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in keeping our neighborhood accessible and safe for everyone. Thank you!
