Dear families

This week we acknowledged and celebrated Education Week. We are so proud of our Grade 5 students who participated in the DELF (Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française) at the A1 beginner level. The DELF is an internationally recognized French language proficiency exam that certifies a student's ability in French. It is awarded by the French Ministry of Education and is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The DELF consists of four independent diplomas (A1, A2, B1, B2) that correspond to different levels of proficiency.  The goal is for our students to achieve the B2 level by the end of grade 12 in the French Immersion program.

Spirit Day –Thursday April 17

Our grade 4 and 5 student Advisory group has been planning for some upcoming Spirit Days from now until the end of the school year.  We will have a spirit day next Thursday, April 17, and the theme is:  Students dress as an adult and Adults dress as a student. We can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Bicycles on School Grounds

A friendly reminder to families to walk bikes when on school grounds.

Please do not send your child to school with wheelie shoes as they are a safety hazard.

School Closed and Non-Instruction Day

There is no school on Friday, April 18 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 21 (System Professional Learning Day).

Wellness Day – We are Still Looking for Volunteers

We are thrilled to announce that King George School will be hosting its eighth annual Wellness Day on Friday, May 30th, 2025! This much-anticipated event is designed to empower our students with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to lead active, healthy, and balanced lives. From mindfulness to movement, nutrition to stress management, Wellness Day is all about helping young minds and bodies thrive.

We are looking for volunteers who can share their skills and expertise with our students. Your involvement will help shape a meaningful and enriching experience, making a lasting impact on our school community.

What to Expect

Wellness Day will be packed with interactive and engaging sessions tailored to different age groups for our students in Kindergarten to grade 5.

The event will kick off with an inspiring keynote speaker, followed by three to four dynamic 45-minute sessions (per grade), where students will explore different aspects of well-being. We'll even squeeze in a short nutrition break to keep everyone energized!

How You Can Contribute

We want to offer students a wide range of learning experiences, and we need passionate volunteers like you to make it happen! Here are some exciting session ideas:

  • Yoga & Meditation – Teach relaxation techniques and mindfulness.
  • Medical practitioners– Share knowledge on healthcare, hygiene, and overall well-being.
  • Dentist – Explain the importance of oral health and good habits.
  • Nutritionist – Guide students toward healthy eating and balanced nutrition.
  • Professional Athlete – Inspire kids with stories and tips on staying active and fit.
  • Veterinarian – Foster compassion for animals and responsible pet care.
  • Special Skills – Whether it's crochet, juggling, art, jump rope, orienteering, your unique talents can spark creativity and joy!
  • Other Options – Have an idea not listed here? We'd love to hear it! Whether it’s a unique hobby, an engaging life skill, or an approach to wellness, your contribution could make a real impact.

Be Part of the Experience

We are still finalizing the session agenda, but we invite you to express your interest in leading three repeated 45-minute sessions.

Your participation matters, and together, we can create an unforgettable and inspiring day for our students!

If this interests you, please reach out to Mme Shannah via email at shernest@cbe.ab.ca.

Thank you for being a valued part of King George School’s Wellness Day. We can’t wait to work with you!
