Dear Families,

It hardly seems possible that we are entering the final week of the 2025-2026 school year. The months have flown by, filled with learning, growth, and memorable moments. I am so proud of the progress our students have made, and all that we have accomplished together.

This past week was packed with lots of exciting activities. All grades had the opportunity to learn from our Knowledge Keeper, Clarence Wolfleg, who shared stories and sang and played his drum for us. We also celebrated Indigenous People’s Month and Indigenous People’s Day at our school Assembly on Thursday, where we reflected on our Truth and Reconciliation Commitment | 2025-2026, and each grade sang an Indigenous song they learned with Mme Rosie. Thursday afternoon and evening we shared the learning students did throughout the year and especially through our Yellow Steps residency. Thank you to all who were able to join us at our Celebration of Learning. We ended the evening with a tremendous performance for our Grades 4 and 5 choir. They sang beautifully and Mme Rosie and Mme Tara, our parent volunteer, did a fantastic job leading them and accompanying them on guitar and piano.

Next week will be filled with more excitement. We have our grade 5 farewell celebration, many outdoor activities, such as walks to Confederation Park, Fun Day, and our farewell assembly.

We will be sending out our final Family Update of the 2025-2026 school year next week.

Class Size Reduction Grant

We are pleased to inform you that our school has been allocated 2 additional teaching position(s) for the 2026–27 school year through the Government of Alberta’s Class Size Reduction Grant.

This grant funds teaching positions that support improved learning conditions in kindergarten to Grade 9 classrooms.

This funding is specifically intended to help reduce class sizes in core subject areas (English Language Arts/French Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies), with priority given to schools experiencing the greatest class size pressures.

This decision was made using system-wide data that considers:

  • The number of classes exceeding provincial class size benchmarks
  •  Projected enrolment and class organization
  •  School programming and grade configuration

Our goal is to ensure students benefit from:

  •  Increased teacher attention
  •  Improved classroom learning environments
  •  Greater support for diverse learning needs

We remain committed to supporting strong learning environments for all students and using our resources thoughtfully and strategically.

Thank you,

Allison Hull, Principal
