Dear families of King George School,

Student Conferences - March 21 & 22

We want to remind you to book a conference with your child’s teacher next week. You can book a 15-minute time to discuss your child’s learning. Please book your conference through MyCBE.

Learn and Share | School Planning Survey

We value your opinion and are asking our school community to fill out our School Planning Survey. The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback from families on school planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget, and school fees. When students, staff and families work closely together, students experience greater success.  Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.

Absences & Extended Absences Procedure

The Calgary Board of Education recognizes the strong positive correlation between attendance and a student’s success in school. Regular attendance sets students on the path to reaching their full potential. At CBE we use a whole school approach to attendance to strategically allocate our resources and create a positive culture where students feel a sense of belonging.

By grade 3, students with chronic absenteeism are less likely to read at grade level

By grade 6, chronic absenteeism puts student at risk of not completing high school

By grade 9, regular attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than test scores

We want to remind families that if your child will be absent for two weeks or more, you must submit an extended absence form to the office. This form acknowledges that there is a strong correlation between school attendance and success, and that an extended absence will impact your child’s learning. We also want to remind you that teachers do not provide work for students that are absent. Thank you for your support with this.
