Carnaval February 9 - 11
Did you know that Quebec Carnaval is the largest winter festival in the world? It is an outdoor event that celebrates winter and Nordic living between the end of January and mid-February. Next week is King George School’s version of Carnaval!
Students will be engaging in hockey bottine (street hockey), les cuillères (musical spoons), and a défilé de portes (door parade). There will even be some visits from Bonhomme Carnaval during the week! You can read more about Carnaval de Quebec here.
Students will also be receiving a maple candy, which they will take home to enjoy. If you do not want your child to take home a maple candy, please inform your child’s teacher.
We will also have the following theme days during the week:
- Monday, February 10 – Checkered Shirt Day – Chemise à carreaux
- Tuesday, February 11 - Toque – Tuque (wear your favourite tuque or winter hat)
- Wednesday, February 12 – Bonhomme Bonhomme! (wear red & white)
We wish to thank our School Council for helping purchase the candy and supplies to make this French cultural event extra fun!
